ACTIVE TIMES/PACE: JST/GMT+9
BRACKETS/PROSE: Brackets but I can match!
OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS & TRIGGERS: N/A but I'm squicked by cannibalism and teeth/dental injury so I'd like to keep mentions of those things general and brief if possible.

IN CHARACTER

PHYSICAL AFFECTION:
Yes. He loves physical affection more than he'll ever actually admit out loud and he'll accept it most times. He's also the type to be physical with people whether it's to make them uncomfortable or to be genuinely affectionate.

PHYSICAL VIOLENCE:
Yes. He loves fighting but if you want to do a fight thread or something, please let me know so we can figure things out.

RELATIONSHIPS:
Yes. He's naturally kind of distant and doesn't let others get very close to him but he's able to be friendly enough and establish basic relationships. He's prone to adopting CR that he finds endearing but he's hesitant to call people friends or say he's close with them (even if he really does like them). He's very slow burn when it comes to romance and he can become self-destructive because of it so.

PSYCHIC & PSIONIC INFORMATION:
Yes, for things like mind-reading/etc. But please talk to me because he always has a lot more going on than he lets on and I usually don't get into a lot of detail in casual threads.

MAGICAL INFORMATION:
His physical form is pretty human. It gets injured and needs to eat/rest. The big thing is that because his sword is his true form, if it's damaged, it's reflected as physical damage on his body and his sword will need to be repaired to heal. I'm fine with bending this a bit in RP but let's talk it out so I can be consistent!

MEDICAL INFORMATION:
I'm personally fine with addressing these topics in RP but child death is a very sensitive topic for him. He also gets triggered by strong love/attachments because of his past. He can become incredibly anxious about his relationship statuses and become edgy or self-destructive because he'd rather destroy them himself than lose them in a way beyond his control. He can also become extremely loyal to the point he's problematic.

Tsurumaru also speaks very casually about death/dying (for others and himself) so if this is triggering for anyone, let me know!

OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS & TRIGGERS: None but he gets a little more emotional when the death of a child or someone before their time comes up. He talks very flippantly about death and dying so if this is upsetting to you, let me know!

OUT OF CHARACTER

BACKTAGGING: Yes, within reason.
THREADHOPPING: Yes, but ask first.
FOURTHWALLING: No.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

VISUAL:
He has an ethereal look to him. He's beautiful and graceful in a way that doesn't feel completely human. His smile is perfect but doesn't reach his eyes.

His robes and kimono are high quality and the chains and accessories are made of real gold. His armor is real and high quality leather. You can reasonably assume he's either an important person or someone with some sort of status to wear nice things.

AURAL:
He sounds friendly and casual! He speaks very confidently. He has a strong and clear singing voice and sounds much more emotional than when he's speaking.

OLFACTORY:
IDK apparently swords might smell like fire and metal to people who are sensitive to spirits or something I really don't know it came up once in some random piece of canon and never came up again. Either way, Tsurumaru usually smells nice and clean because he cares a lot about his appearances unless he's covered in blood in which case he smells like blood.

DEMEANOUR:
He always seems kind of detached/distant like he's trying to see what is and isn't worth his time. He doesn't look down on people but it's kind of like he's watching them from a different place-- somewhere that isn't "here" but further away (like a different world/perspective/life). He isn't deciding if he wants to come down on your level but rather, it's like there's a wall and he's deciding if he wants to let it down so you can come into his space or if he should go to you.

He acts friendly and casual so it's easy to forget/not see that the wall/distance is there. And sometimes it really seems like it isn't there at all! But he always brings it back in the end.

Most characters in canon are able to sense this about Tsurumaru, even the more naive and oblivious ones can tell something is "off" or "more" with him. They usually think it's because of his age or his status as a national treasure and while that's definitely a part of it... the more observant characters can usually tell it's because he's a troubled spirit trying to be strong. He's sad, he's been hurt, he carries a lot of grief, and while he's good and reliable, he needs to be careful in the dark.

RECOGNITION:
Tsurumaru is a relatively famous sword. He's considered a historical, cultural, and imperial treasure. Historically, he's been known as a very beautiful sword and in modern times, he's considered one of the most well-preserved swords and a masterpiece work on par with the Tenka Goken (5 Great Swords Under Heaven). If you feel like your character would recognize his name or sword, feel free to do so!

FOR OBSERVANT CHARACTERS

Tsurumaru is canonly a difficult character to read given his age, complex history, and the defensive layers to his personality. He's so difficult to understand that Tsurumaru admits he doesn't understand his own nature until he undergoes a huge character development moment in canon.

Part of the fun of playing Tsurumaru is working through his layers to learn more about his true nature. I would like for characters to not perceive everything about him right away but I'm totally fine with people catching on to parts of his personality within reason! As a heads up, if Tsurumaru feels like certain parts of him are being perceived too much, he'll make himself more difficult to read whether it's by pulling away or pushing back.

If you play a character that is particularly observant or good at reading people, let me know and I'm happy to work with you and give you more IC clues for them to make conclusions from. Likewise, if you think Tsurumaru is acting like someone your character has experience with or if your character has known Tsurumaru well enough to catch onto certain things, hit me up!

Likewise, Tsurumaru is also an observant character that understands situations and people far more than he usually lets on so if you want him to catch onto anything in turn, let me know.
